The Link Between Money & Good Health

The Link Between Money & Good Health

In an ideal world, money shouldn't be able to buy us good health. We would all have access to health care and healthy food at affordable rates or even free of charge.

But we don't live in an ideal world.

MONEY AFFECTS THE QUALITY OF HEALTHCARE WE GET IN MOST COUNTRIES

In most countries around the world women have to pay to deliver babies - they have to pay gynaes and doctors and pay for hospital stays.

If they choose a home birth...they still have to pay Doulas and other specialists.

And as the kids become older, parents have to pay for quality healthcare. This is the same for adults.

The more intense the disease, the larger the cost.

This all costs money. In the USA, healthcare is one of the leading causes of bankruptcy,

We are literally paying to stay alive.

PREVENTION IS BETTER THAN CURE...SO WHY CAN'T PEOPLE EAT HEALTHY AND EXERCISE?

Phew!

I am an advocate for healthy eating - veganism and yoga and all that. No doubt.

But lets be honest: this costs money and time.

Eating organic and going vegan may be cheaper in some countries than others.

I know it's cheaper in the village where I buy my food from the farmers and R100/ $7 gets me a full booth of vegetables.

This is because we have land in the village and most of us plant fruit or vegetables in our yards.

In metropolitan cities and in most countries (especially "first world countries") fruit and vegetables are expensive. People in cities don't have land to plant so naturally food will be a bit more expensive.

So we are back to the issue of land! Land and money go hand in hand for so many reasons.

And corporations globally, have caught on to the health trend and are starting to make healthier options more expensive.

Heck, we even pay for water!!

Also there is the fact that most men and women work and are often too tired to come home and chop vegetables and make a meal.

I'm not saying it can't be done and if you follow me, you know I advocate for hours of chopping and eating vegetables and fruit all day long.

But add in long hours of work and kids and decision making fatigue (search what this is and how it affects finances in the Wealthy Money blog) kicks in and suddenly good intentions of eating healthy go out the window.

AND THEN THERE'S EXERCISE

Yes running and walking are free and in theory everyone can do them except people who live in unsafe neighborhoods and don't have cars or transport money to go jogging and walking in safer hoods.

And let's be honest safer neighborhoods with jogging parks and walking trails tend to be middle class and upper middle class.

So even there money plays a role.

And yoga? Gym?

These cost money as well.

So actually money does buy us health, from the minute we are born in fact.

We are spiritual beings having an earthly experience and this earthly experience requires us to understand money to keep experiencing it.

So can we keep pretending that money is not spiritual and that being spiritual means not worrying about money?
