I was in my early twenties when a man made me quit my job and life in London to live in Trinidad with him (we knew each other and had dated for a while when we both lived in Florida, USA). At the time South Africans needed visas for Trinidad (we no longer do) and he organized all that, so I thought this is real and I trusted him.
So I spent the weekend binge watching Lovecraft Country...and I love it.
The one thing I notice in that show is how White people are fearless about the use of magic and Black people are scared of it and think it's evil, that is basically my experience of things.
Some men will say they are bewitched and go and slaughter a village of cows asking for help from their ancestors, meanwhile it's because of how they have treated their kids.
